Cyprus International Film Festival- 5th Day and Awards

The last day of film projections at the 5th Cyprus International Film Festival began with the projection of Medea (Natalia Kuznetsova, Russia) followed by I, Giannoulis Halepas (Stella Arkenyi, Greece).

The Golden Aphrodite projections included the films Birds of Prey (Rakesh Mehta, India) and Love in a Different Language (Ilksen Basarir, Turkey).

Closing Ceremony

The Awards Ceremony, which took place on the 18th of October, at Pallas Theatre in Nicosia,represented a glamorous event, attended by some significant personalities in the film industry and other fields as well. Mrs Aigli Kammitsi, President of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Nicosia, Mr Fotis, Fotou, Mr George Iliopoulos for the European Committee Bureau in Cyrpus, Mrs Evi Rizou Greek Embassy in Cyprus Press Office representative,  Mr Constantinos Christofides , Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs in the University of Cyprus and chairman of UCY Voice, Mr Vassilov, President of the Russian Cultural Centre in Cyprus,  fashion designer Sia Dimitriades, Cyprus Tourism Organization Official Bakis Loizides, Marios Filippou and Onisilos Pavlides from Cyprus University Film Association as well as Micky Georgiou from PLUS TV. In 2006 Mr Fotis Fotou, former Chariman of Cyprus Tourism Organization along with former Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades, whose memory and spirit is still alive, found and supported the festival. Mr Fotiou underlined the fact that the Festival has now become an acclaimed organization.

The event was also attended by some of the Jury Committee Members who for this festival’s edition were: the Cypriot actor and director Costas Demeitriou, the Greek actress and director Alexandra Pavlidou, the songwriter Kostas Cacogiannis, the film producer George Stefanopoulos, and the film critic Alexandros Romanos Lizardos.

Award presentation was made by Cypriot actress Maria Filippou. During the event a special screening of the short film took place, which was made during the workshop “Actor in front of the camera” organized and carried out by Thanassis Sarantos. Nicosia’s University Cinema Club awarded the best short and animation films.

Highly important is the fact that a Turkish film, Love in a Different Language, was not only much awarded in multiple categories (Best Leading Actor in a Feature Film, Best Script in a Feature Film, Best Director in a Feature Film), but also received the Golden Aphrodite, proving thus that art has no political borders.

Veteran’s Award:

An innovative Award for filmmakers who have directed more than three films. This year’s veteran’s award was given to the film «Pile Up» by Ferenc Torok (Hungary). The film was selected for this award by Festival’s Artistic Director, Tony Srour.

Golden Aphrodite Awards

Significantly important were the films in Competition for Golden Aphrodite. Deriving from different origins, describing entirely different worlds but equally exciting, these films competing for the Festival’s grand Prize, stand out as exemplary creative films.

Cyprus International Film Festival- Cinema Love

The next days at Pantheon Art Cinema invited the audience to enjoy the wonderful world of the art of cinema and world-wide movies.

On Friday the 15th of October, spectators were invited from 17.00 to watch films on their taste, either animation, shorts or feature. The Golden Aphrodite screened two films in competition, a Greek and Spanish film, namely “45 SQ.MTRS” (Stratos Tzitzis) and “The Golden Gag” (Maria Jose Ruiz Fenollera).

The 4th day of the CYIFF found its enthusiastics participants in the “Actor in front of the Camera” workshop in the midst of shooting a short film (more information in the article Making of of “Beyond the Walls”)

The Short Film Mania from 17.00 to 21.30 received a warm welcome from the audience, who had the opportunity to discuss with the film directors, producers or actors from the films screened.

Cyprus International Film Festival- First and Second Day

The first day of the much awaited 5^th edition of the Cyprus International Film Festival opened its gates on the 13^th of October 2010, at the Pantheon Art Cinema in Nicosia. With a great many spectators, as well as important guests, CYIFF “welcomed us into a sweet collaboration in the arms of the 7^th art” (Tony Srour). “For the 5^th year in a row we are carrying on our effort to underline the value of the upcoming filmmakers, transmit their ideas and their work, as well as bring together productive initiatives, deriving from different backgrounds”, Petra Terzi CYIFF’s CEO stated.

The Opening Ceremony, held by Petra Terzi and the Polish Ambassador in Cyprus, Paweł Dobrowolski,was followed by the international film premiere “Arcadia Lost” (USA, 2010), directed by Phedon Papamichaeland starring Nick Nolte. The film tells the initiating story of two youngsters into life and death and was shot entirely in Greece, “with a landscape of an unique energy, the Greek lighting actually helping the story to evolve”, as the director himself states.

Film projections continued throughout the evening, both with shorts, followed by a Q&A section, and feature, ending with the first coloured Cypriot film from 1974, Hasaboulia tis Kyprou, by Costas Demetriou.

The second day of the Cyprus International Film Festival continued with the “Actor in front of the camera” workshop, in which Thanassis Sarantos brought the young filmmaker participants into the world of acting, not only through role playing, but also through a great many examples of wonderful performances in world-wide renowned films. Most importantly, the preparations began for the scenario and script of the seminar short film, which was  screened on 18 October at Pallas Theatre in Nicosia.

Film projections delighted the audience, present from 17.00 at Pantheon Art Cinema. “The Seven Stages of Antiquity” (Georges Petritsis, Greece) was followed by a section of international short films, where the spectators had the chance to talk with the film directors. Thanassis Sarantos was also present after the screening of his short film “The Glove”.  In the Golden Aphrodite competition spectators could watch “21:3” (Michal Ostatkiewicz, PL) and “The Ambulance” (Goran Radovanovic, RS/GR). The day ended with another two projections of short films.

Seminar/ Workshop “The actor in front of the camera”

The delicacy in which someone handles the camera is a capture relationship, a knowledge relationship, a magic and mysterious procedure. The seminar aims at comprehending this issue, comprehending the way in which an actor/ actress delivers their performance in front of the camera, in front the photographic or the cinematographic lens.

Acting on a theatrical play, on a TV series, on a film. What makes them different and how can the director or the actor approach better their choices? Where do photography and cinema derive from? Which characteristic is attached to its roots and in which ways does it evolve as time passes by? What differences arise from the “mother” theatrical action? How does the space, scenery, costumes, make up, motion, invade and define a performance? In which ways have technological means drastically changed the way we play a part?

Theatrical play and rehearsals. Film script and rehearsals. The whole ensemble. Text discontinuity. The relationship with the audience and crew. Sentimentality and detached collaboration. The lens, body, lights, microphone, equipage. Both the actor and the director are connected to the issue of deep knowledge and conquest of the actor’s performance in front of the camera. The actor’s realization, psychology, nervousness, forms of expression, voice, body and soul. Frames and the way audience and observers perceive them.

Within the seminar framework, apart from theoretical approaches, the screening of films distinguished for their actors’ major performances will be included, along with their analysis. Furthermore, there will be a practical approach interfering with the use of a text and performing exercises in front of the camera. Also, a short film will be created and it is going to be screened on October 18th at Pallas theatre.

Thanassis Sarantos / Director, actor

Born in Athens, he studied English Literature in Athens, Acting at the Carolos Koun Drama Theater School in Athens and Film Direction at the New York Film Academy on scholarships from the Fulbright Foundation, the Onassis Foundation and the Greek Film Centre. While in New York, he worked as an actor and assistant director under Robert Wilson at the Watermill Center (2000) and went on to perform in Wilson’s production of Prometheus at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall (2001). On his return to Greece, he acted and directed in a number of

Greek theaters, played various roles on Greek TV and founded the Ithikon Akmeotaton production company, directing Albert Camus’ Caligula (2000), Antoine de Saint Exupery’s The Little Prince (2003) and two plays by Marius von Mayenburg—The Ugly One (2008) and The Dog, the Night and the Knife (2009)—for the stage. He also served a scriptwriting internship in Berlin in 2007as part of the Nipkow Programm, during which he participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival.

The fifth edition of Cyprus International Film Festival is a fact! The biggest, most anticipated film festival not only in Cyprus but in a wide area with film submissions from 85 countries in 2010, is here again in order to move, encharm, entertain and present the most auspicious film trends to the die-hard cinemagoers and to first- timers in getting to know significant pieces of the Seventh Art. The festival which has accomplished within little time to connect its name to avant-garde cinema – as expressed through the oeuvre of upcoming talented directors- as well as to established, ”classic” aspects  of cinema- as highlighted through the activities of the Jury members-  is here again, in order to challenge us to fearlessly project our dreams on celluloid.

The Festival’s Program

Signed by Tony Srour, Festival’s Art director and also successful entrepreneur and outstanding personality in filmmaking and film producing, this year’s Official Selection is expected to spread enthusiasm its fans.

Anticipated premieres, surprising films, films which are going to change the way we face the world. This year’s edition, will also present to the Cypriot Audience all the latest film productions. Among them there is outstanding Strella, directed by talented Mr. Panos Koutras, and distinguished in major film organizations worldwide. Significantly important are also the films in Competition for Golden Aphrodite. Deriving from different origins, describing entirely different worlds but equally exciting, these seven films competing for the Festival’s grand Prize, stand out as exemplary creative films.

They are promising to surprise us for another time using their provoking, seditious theme and their great artistic value. The documentary dealing with nudity in Greek filmmaking “Naked Cinema” by Vassos Gerogas is among them. They are the films selected for the Panorama section.  A special screening of the legendary, in various levels, film “Hasaboulia of Cyprus” by the acclaimed director and actor Kostas Dimitriou, is one of this year’s program highlights as well as a great honor for the Organization. Another program highlight is considered to be the tribute to the Modern Polish Cinema, as well as the new visions on ancient themes as suggested through the Antiquity section. Short films and animation have once again their own special “route” to the audience’s heart and festival’s screens.

Along with the screenings, an innovative and extremely interesting workshop is going to take place under the title “Actor in front of the camera”, organized and carried out by the distinguished actor and director, Thanassis Sarantos.

A big feast about cinema is going to be held for five days at Pantheon Art Cinema, beginning internationally acclaimed director Phedon Papamichael’s latest film which is going to be screened right after the Opening Ceremony.

Lost in … Arcadia

… found in Cyprus! This is not only to describe the warm, celebrating character which is going to be emitted through the whole city, but also the much awaited premiere of the film Arcadia Lost, by the director and cinematographer Phedon Papamichael. The film will make a proper opening for the festival. Through his directing, the “architect” of the amazing frames shown on the films Knight and Day, Sideways, 3:10 to Yuma, W και The Pursuit of Happiness, transfers us to a congenial yet metaphysical experience between yesterday and today having the unique Nick Nolte to guide us through the splendid landscape of Arcadia, in Peloponnese.

The Awards

One of the main Cyprus International Film Festival’s objectives is to designate and strengthen innovative film expression script wise and form wise. It aims to support young filmmakers who have directed no more than three films by giving them the awards: Golden Aphrodite, film reels, technical services and film making equipment awards. The film and director who win Golden Aphrodite Award are suggested by an International Jury consisting of acclaimed professionals in the film industry.

This year’s Jury Committee consists of the Cypriot actor and director Kostas Dimitriou, the Greek actress and director Alexandra Pavlidou, the songwriter Kostas Kakogiannis, the film producer George Stefanopoulos, and the film critic Alexandros Romanos Lizardos.

Closing Ceremony

A glamorous event which is going to be attended by major personalities, not only from the film industry, is going to take place on October 18^th at the Pallas Theatre in Nicosia. All the members of the Jury Committee are going to be present so as to announce the winner of the festival’s big prize, Golden Aphrodite. During the event a special screening of the short film which will be made during the workshop “Actor in front of the camera” organized and carried out by Thanassis Sarantos, is going to take place. Film Club of University Cyprus is going to award the best short and animation films.

Incheiere de gala la Sighisoara Film Festival!

Agitata zi, ce-a de-a 5-a a Festivalului de Film de la Sighisoara, care a inceput cu prezentarea proiectului Imagine Cup, la ora 10.

Imagine Cup este cea mai populară competiție internațională pentru studenții pasionați de tehnologie și artă digitală, în cadrul căreia fiecare participant încearcă să schimbe lumea prin abordarea unora dintre cele mai dificile probleme sociale. Ceea ce începe cu o explozie de inspiraţie şi multă muncă, se poate transforma cu uşurinţă într-o adevărată descoperire în materie de software sau o viitoare carieră. Totodata, proiectul încurajează tinerii să îşi aplice imaginaţia, pasiunea şi creativitatea pentru dezvoltarea unor inovaţii tehnologice ce pot face lumea mai bună.

Aflat la a opta ediţie, Imagine Cup s-a diferenţiat ca o competiţie cu adevărat globală concentrată pe găsirea de soluţii pentru probleme reale ale societăţii. Prin concursul Schimba lumea in 99 de secunde, desfăşurat în cadrul Sighişoara Film Festival, elevii şi studenţii pot face un prim pas în direcţia pregătirii pentru competiţii de talia Imagine Cup.

Sanda Foamete, SNR Manager pentru Audienţă Academică şi Educaţională, de la Microsoft România, a afirmat in cadrul conferintei ca “elevii sunt extrem de creativi. Dacă au o cameră digitală, foto sau video, sunt tentaţi să se joace, făcând filme. Unii dintre ei realizează într-o zi că joaca se transformă în pasiune sau în dorinţa de a urma o profesiune înrudită cu realizarea filmelor, fie de ficţiune, documentare sau jurnalism. Alţii descoperă prin intermediul filmului digital pasiunea pentru dezvoltarea de aplicaţii software. Pe unii dintre aceşti elevi îi susţin profesorii la şcoală, chiar dacă materia film nu este obiect de studiu.”

Ziua a continuat cu workshopul  “Open Chat Microsoft Silverlight” destinat caselor de productie de film, in  care, dupa prezentarea tehnologiei Silverlight, s-a discutat despre implementarea tehnicilor in cadrul Festivalul de Film de la Sighisoara.  Intr-adevar, Silverlight e aproape de SF. Iti permite sa navighezi virtual si 3D prin orase si sa vezi live video-uri de la evenimente.

IIS Media Services este o platformă integrată de tip server de livrare de conţinut media peste HTTP, o soluţie pentru furnizarea de conţinut media live în format HD (720p+) sau streaming la cerere. Silverlight este o tehnologie ce permite dezvoltarea aplicaţiilor Web cu conţinut bogat, interactiv şi reprezentare grafica de înaltă calitate. Aplicaţiile pot rula pe multiple browsere (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari şi Chrome) şi pe diverse platforme, inclusiv pe dispozitive mobile.

Intre timp, cu ochii pregatiti pentru delectari cinematografice, am pornit spre locul de proiectie sa intalnim Profetul,  “Le Prophet”, marele premiat al Cannes-ului in 2009. A urmat “She, a Chinese”, care a castigat printre altele si Golden Leopard laLocarno in 2009. “Calatoria lui Gruber”, “The Milk of Sorrow” si “Francesca” ne-au tinut in priza pana aproape de ora 21, cand a avut loc festivitatea de inchidere a Festivalului.

Dupa multumirile de rigoare aduse Primariei si Consiliului Sighisoarei, precum si organizatorilor, sponsorilor si presei, publicul a aflat si cine e castigatorul de anul acesta al premiului Imagine Cup oferit de Microsoft, si anume tanara Ana Mares.

Cu toate ca ploua ingrozitor, Piata Cetatii a strans in jurul ei sute de oameni pentru o proiectie deconcertanta,“Le Concert”.

E interesant sa vezi ca privitorii se inversuneaza sa ramana pana la finalul unui film bun, pana si in conditii nu tocmai prielnice. Nu ma refer numai la ploaie sau la barele corturilor amplasate pentru a-i proteja de cinefili de ploaie, bare care imparteau traversau ecranul de proiectie ci si la “fundalul miscator”, adica 2-3 zgomotosi ajunsi la film pentru o bere si cateva discutii decibelice. Da, au fost nervi tensionati, au fost strigate si “Liniste, va rog”, dar a fost si un film ale carui imagini care vor “canta” in imaginatie de fiecare data cand ascultam Tchaikovsky.

Un astfel de film merita a fi vazut nu doar datorita multiplelor premii (Best Music Written for a Film – Cesar 2010) sau a  nominalizarilor ( Best Director, best Editing, Best Writing – Cesar 2010) ci si pentru emotia pe care o raspandeste. Vazand filmul, vei dirija si tu alaturi de Andrei Filipov si vei canta la vioara alaturi de Anne-Marie Jacquet. Dupa ani in care Ceaikovski ne-a incantat auzul, ii putem regasi “Concertul” (“Concertul pt vioara Re op. 35″, “Concertul imposibil”) in imagini. Seara s-a incheiat printr-un al doilea concert, cel al trupei Sensor.

Si asa au zburat 5 zile de film, de film bun, de film premiat. Poate dupa succesul acestui festival putem saluta de-acum incolo “ne vedem la SFF!” sau ne vom nota de pe-acum data Sarbatorii Filmelor Premiate 2011.

Deci, ne vedem la SFF 2011?

SFF DAY 4! Pentru o zi a filmului romanesc!

Cea de-a patra zi a Festivalului de Film de la Sighisoara a debutat cu scurt-metrajele romanesti – Palmele, Bric-Brac, Nunta lui Oli si Fabulosul Destin al lui Toma Cuzin-, sectiune urmata de discutiile dintre public si invitati. Astfel am aflat ca „Fabulosul destin al lui Toma Cuzin” a inceput ca un proiect pentru facultate, fiind realizat in decursul a 3 ani jumatate si reprezentand o punere in practica a metodei regizorului Jean-Pierre Jeunet, pe care il cunoasteti bineinteles dupa filmul „Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain”. Chiar daca comparatia titlurilor filmelor spune tot, ne-am bucurat sa vedem o iesire din tiparul minimalist romanesc.

Pescuit Sportiv, Amintiri din Epoca de Aur II, Cealalta Irina si Polistist, adjectiv au delectat publicul pana spre seara, reamintind publicului valoarea filmului romanesc.

Intre timp, invitatii si presa au fost condusi de Tobosar si Austriac, binecunoscutele personaje ale Cetatii Sighisoarei, intr-un tur de poveste prin istoria locului. Cei doi ne-au impresionat cu dedicatia si hotararea cu care promoveaza turismul cultural romanesc. Considera Sighisoara Film Festival „o provocare pentru oamenii aflati intr-o lume bolnava” si cred cu tarie ca doar prin cultura putem fi salvati. Stiu sa salute in 57 de limbi si au impresionat grupurile de turisti lituanieni si japonezi cand i-au salutat chiar pe limba lor.

„Tshto, misto”, asa a fost „Nunta in Basarabia”, ca sa-l citez pe nasul Valeriu, unul intre personajele filmului. Comedia, cum rar se mai face la noi, a fost proiectata de la ora 21.00, fiind aplaudata si ras-plaudata de multimea privitorilor din Piata Cetatii. Ce poti sa vrei mai mult de la un film decat un subiect bine ales, un joc al actorilor impecabil si personaje bine conturate? Evident, o controversa. Si controversa a venit prin inserturile diferentelor dintre romani si basarabeni. O sa aflati din film daca in Basarabia se vorbeste romana sau moldoveneasca, daca sinele de tren ale basarabenilor sunt diferite si daca nuntile lor sunt la fel ca ale noastre.

Conferinta de presa organizata cu ocazia proiectii „Nuntii” ne-a dezvaluit, prin regizorul Napoleon Helmis, si prin actorul Vlad Logigan ca a face film in Basarabia e un proiect indraznet si de multe ori anevoios si ca te poti lovi,ca producator, de o birocratie acerba. Filmul va avea premiera in Romania in septembrie 2010.

SFF DAY 3 “Viata e complexa si are multe aspecte”

precum teoria chibritului…cum ca intre 1 si 2 e un spatiu infinit, asa cum intre 2 si 3 e infinit, asa cum intre 3 si patru 4 este? Ei bine, faptul ca am ajuns la SFF se incadreaza in aceeasi teorie. Cand esti la un festival de film, devorezi tot ce poti cu toate ca ai vazut si revazut filmele. In momentele scurte in care dormi, reiterezi proiectiile din ziua respectiva si astfel te afli constant intr-un cine-spatiu, un spatiu cinematografic infinit. E o delimitare aparenta, aceea de a impartirea articolele pe zile, pentru ca de fapt atmosfera de festival nu se incheie nicicand.

A treia zi de festival a debutat cu proiectiile scurt metrajelor premiate la Berlin, Locarno si Oberhausen: Ketamin – regia Carsten Aschman, Believe – regia Paul Wright, Please Say Something – regia David O`Reilly, Nora -regia Alla Kovgan si David Hinton, A Letter to Uncle Bonmee – regia Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Proiectiile au continuat cu sectiunea Romanian Shorts, incheiata cu discutiile dintre public si invitati- Paul Negoescu, Alex Radu (Renovare) si Andreea Gramosteanu (Pentru el).

Au urmat “Cea mai fericita fata in lume”, film pe care il digeri cu greu, dar dupa care te gandesti ca tipologiile personajelor din el sunt pretutindeni, si “Panglica alba”,in regia lui Michael Haneke, care, in ciuda faptului ca era subtitrat doar in franceza si realizat in germana, a avut parte de curajosi care sa-l vada pana la final.

Intre timp, au avut loc si la atelirele de lucru manual din Piata Cetatii organizate de Cloud Factory unde copii au desenat pe plase textile, tot ce le trecea prin minte si au confecționat păpuși și marionete din materiale reciclate și reciclabile. Am urmarit cu entuziasm atelierele, avand si „a view from the tower”.

Tot astazi ni s-a dezvaluit castigatorul competitiei “Schimba lumea in 99 de secunde” dar pe voi va tinem in suspans pana sambata. Membrii juriul competitiei, impresionati de creatiile copiilor talentati, au mentionat ca spera ca multi dintre ei sa isi gaseasca drumul in cinematografie.

Ziua a treia de la Sighisoara Film Festival a stat sub semnul lui In memoriam..Gheorghe Dinica pe care cinefilii l-au revazut in Filantropica – regia Nae Caranfil, in Piata Cetatii, de la ora 21.00. Surprizele serii au fost si prezenta regizorului Nae Caranfil, a Gabrielei Dinica, sotia lui Gheorghe Dinica, si a directorului de imagine,Vivi Dragan Vasile. Au rememorat momentele petrecute alaturi de Maestru, sperand ca la finalul proiectiei sa il regaseasca in public.

Totodata am aflat si un aspect „din culise” de la regizorul: filmul „Filantropica” a ajuns nu doar unul dintre cele mai indragite filme romanesti ci si material educativ folosit de Politie pentru pregatirea campaniei anti-cersatorie initiate acum cateva luni.

Pentru unul dintre cele mai apreciate filme romanesti, aplauzele, hohotele de ras si chicotelile erau de asteptat, dar niciodata am vazut sa o mai mare bucurie la o proiectie de film.

Am memorat replicile savuroase, am ras la zecile de momente si am zambit la replica unui privitor  care, enervat de un alt spectator  zgomotos, i-a spus pe un ton dinician: “gura ca ti-o cos”. Deci Dinica a fost printe noi! Va jur! Era prezent silaba cu silaba, frame by frame. Era acolo si chiar ne-a spus tuturor cand ne-a vazut zgribuliti in fata ecranului: “ce tarisoara mica, doar cateva mese”. Si daca tot ne-a amintit ca “mana intinsa care nu spune o poveste nu primeste pomana”, ne-am intins la final mainile spre cer, aplaudand, in speranta ca vom primi salutul dinician. Si l-am primit. E in Filantropica, este in fiecare rol jucat inca din `63 si in cele peste 60 de filme, zeci si zeci de piese de teatru.

Infriguratii au ramas chiar la proiectia In Memoriam…Gheorghe Dinica, la “Prin cenusa imperiului”.

Teoria chibritului continua si astfel aveti timp infinit sa mai ajungeti la Sighisoara, mai ales ca vineri s-a pregatit un program plin de sport, amintiri, pazit de politisti, condimentat de adjective, ce mai, filme care mai de care mai medaliate (Pescuit Sportiv, Aminitiri din Epoca de Aur II, Politist, adjectiv)

SFF DAY 2! Ziua Maghiara si multe filme bune!

FILM,  ATELIERE PENTRU COPII, WORKSHOP IN A DOUA ZI DE SFF

Cea de-a doua zi a Sighisoara Film Festival s-a anuntat plină de evenimente, 23 iunie fiind ziua dedicată culturii și cinematografiei maghiare, Tară invitată în cadrul evenimentului. Pe lângă proiecțiile a zece filme ungurești de renume internațional şi atelierul de lucru manual al Cloud Factory, în această zi a avut loc şi primul workshop SFF în Sala Port.ro, cel organizat de Media Desk.

Filmele din cadrul secțiunii Tară invitată au fost selecţionate cu ajutorul Centrului Cultural al Republicii Ungare si Filmunio, instituții care au avut o contribuție decisivă în buna desfăsrare a evenimentului.

Printre cineastii prezenţi la seciunea de întrebări si răspunsuri de după proiecții s-au numărat Ferenc Moldovanyi (Another Planet), Geza M. Toth (Mama) si Gyula Nemes (Lost World).

Ziua a debutat cu conferinţa de presă de la ora 10.30, la care au participat regizorii filmelor “Mama”, “Lost Word” şi “Alta Planeta”, precum şi Valentina Miu, reprezentanta Media Desk România.

Din cauza vremii nefavorabile toate proiecţiile au avut loc în Club Aristocrat, atelierele pentru copii s-au mutat la Hotel Sighisoara, iar concertele au fost anulate, ploaia torenţială împiedicând chiar şi cei mai entuziaşti spectatori să se bucure de evenimentele în aer liber.

Cloud Factory a organizat gratuit o serie de ateliere de lucru manual pentru copii, cei mici având ocazia să confecționeze păpuși și marionete din materiale reciclate și reciclabile și să picteze plase din material textil.

În cadrul seminarului Media Desk România, Training& Markets& Networks, de la ora 15.00,  publicul cinefil şi specialistii în cinema au avut ocazia să asiste la prezentarea programelor de training şi a inițiativelor de piață sprijinite de Programul MEDIA prezentate de  Valentina Miu, reprezentant Media Desk. Seminarul a fost animat de secţiunea Q&A unde producătorii, regizorii şi video-grapherii au aflat cum pot să primească finanţare pentru proiectele lor.

La Club Aristocrat, au fost proiectate filme cu adevărat impresionante, de la documentare dramatice la filme artistice şi scurt metraje. La primele filme spectatorii nu au fost prezenţi în număr mare , dar vorba aceea  “puţini, dar buni” s-a regăsit şi în acest caz. Sesiunea de scurt metraje, a fost urmată de “Anchetatorul”, în regia lui Gigor Attila, un film inteligent şi savuros, şi de “În căutarea copilului ales”, regia Nati Baratz, ce prezintă căutarea reîncarnării lui Geshe Lama Konchog.

Atmosfera s-a animat spre seară, de la ora 21.00, începând cu proiecţia documentarului “Alta Planeta”, regia Ferenc Moldovanyi ale cărui imagini ţi se întipăresc pe retină şi refuză să îţi părăsească mintea, şocând prin drama copiilor exploataţi. Filmul “Gluma”, în regia lui Peter Gardos, nu a fost nicidecum o glumă şi în ciuda orei târzii, spectatorii s-au bucurat de proiecţia ce a încheiat seara.

Festivalul de Film de la Sighişoara se desfăşoară în perioada 22 – 27 iunie 2010 şi are drept organizatori Fundaţia Română pentru Educaţie şi Educatori în colaborare cu Primăria şi Consiliul Local al Municipiului Sighişoara.

SFF DAY ONE! Eu cand vreau sa nu ploua, nu ploua!

Marti 22 iunie 2010: S-a dat startul la Sarbatoarea Filmelor Premiate!

Plina de energie si spirit creativ, Echipa AMF s-a lasat purtata de cine-val si a debarcat in gara Sighisoara. Spunem debarcat pentru ca am lasat in spate un Cluj inundat cu drumuri blocate si terenuri acoperite de apa.

Dupa intampinarea primitoare a echipei de Guest Relations de la SFF, am plecat sa luam pulsul cetatii, inainte de deschiderea oficiala a Sarbatorii Filmelor Premiate. Orasul nu era pe moment prea animat, insa steagurile festivalului erau prezente in toate locatiile importante din cetate.

La ora 17, s-a dat anuntul deschiderii oficiale cu surle si trambite:

„Se aduce la cunostinta publica sa va anuntam ca de astazi incepe Sarbatoarea Filmelor Premiate. Am zis! La 20.30 deschiderea oficiala! „Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier”, primul film. Al doilea, „Amintiri din epoca de aur I”. Am zis! In fiecare zi, surprize pentru toti copii de la 2 la 99 de ani! In piata cetatii, intrarea libera, moca! Am zis!”

A urmat conferinta de presa (ora 17.30), desfasurata in sala Port.Ro din cadrul Primariei. Au luat cuvantul  Anca Ratiu – reprezentant al Primariei Sighisoara,  Adrian Titieni –  director SFF,  Ioan Lazar  –  director Asociatia Turistica Sighisoara, Emanuel Parvu, actor si regizor, precum si Ana Radulet, PR si Director de Comunicare SFF.

Ce este nou? Pe langa cele doua sectiuni noi prezentate in posturile anterioare– Premiantele in Aur la marile festivaluri europene– Cannes, Berlin, Locarno si Oberhausen- si Tara invitata, anul acesta, SFF extinde conceptul de „gala” a celor mai bune filme de peste an, devenind astfel o „sarbatoare a lor”. De aici si accentul pe aspectul necompetitiv al festivalului, fapt ce il diferentieaza de majoritatea festivalurilor si ii confera o identitate proprie.

Sighisoara Film Festival aduce in fata publicului filme care nu au fost proiectate in Romania la cinematograf sau care au fost prezente doar in cadrul festivalurilor, promovand in acelasi timp valul cinematografic romanesc prezent ce nu uita sa isi uimeasca audienta constant cu noi  creatii de valoare.

Totodata acest festival doreste sa puna in valoarea Cetatea Sighisoarei, complementaritatea lor reprezentand un bun stimul turistic, precum si o promovare atat nationala cat si internationala a farmecului acestei cetatii medievale. Dupa cum afirma si Directorul festivalului, Adrian Titieni: “dorim sa invete lumea drumul, sa invete lumea data, oamenii sa fie obisnuiti cu acest gen de manifestare”.

Au fost prezentate informatii si privind editia urmatoare SFF. Astfel anul viitor personalitatea omagiata va fi Stefan Iordache, durata festivalului se va extinde la 7 zile si se doreste proiectarea simultana a filmelor in mai multe locatii.

In ceea ce priveste invitatii, lista include nume precum: Nae Caranfil, Mihai Chirilov, Vivi Dragan Vasile, Ioana Flora, Gabriel Cotabita, Radu Iacoban, Eugen Serbanescu, Mihai Bendeac, Dan Ratiu, Gabriela Dinica, Ferenc Moldovanyi, Geza M. Toth sau Nemes Gyula.

Pana la 20.30 publicul era deja in numar mare in Piata Cetatii. Suc, bere, ba chiar si eugenii, copii, parinti, multi tineri, straini, presa, cameramani, fotografi si invitati rasfirati in multime (am remarcat prezenta lui Mihai Chirilor si Nae Caranfil). Ce mai, atmosfera de festival!

Deschiderea oficiala a stat sub semnul ploii, iar discursurile oficiale s-au terminat repede pentru a da startul filmului de deschidere al festivalului „Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier!”. Sub multe umbrele colorate, oamenii au ramas in ploaia torentiala, pentru ca pana la urma, „we are here for the movies, man”, ca sa parafrazez un citat din Almost Famous. Din pacate, echipa filmului nu a putut fi prezenta, participand la un festival la Edinburgh. Filmul dramatic a captat atentia auditoriului pana la final, provocand reactii diverse si aclamat cu aplauzele de rigoare.

Pentru Echipa AMF, filmul, desi vazut la premiera oficiala de la Cluj, proiectat in aer liber, a oferit ineditul orei tarzii si farmecul Cetatii Sighisoara. Si pana la urma chiar si ploaia a uitat de noi iar spectatorii au ramas sa savureze in hohote de ras cea de-a doua productie romaneasca „Amintiri din epoca de aur I”.

O zi incheiata cu succes pentru SFF, cu adevarat o „Sarbatoare a Filmelor Premiate”.
